Virtual Servers and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
Let’s face it, technology baffles most people. But as long as it works though that doesn’t matter does it. Virtual servers and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) are classic examples of ‘how does that work?’ technology. You may struggle to define IT infrastructure but it will help define your business.
When you started your business you dreamed of the day when you could expand. But with expansion comes cost. It can also require finding more space. We’ve solved both problems by putting your IT infrastructure on the cloud. Some, or all, of your data is hosted on the internet and managed by secure data centres. This means you can expand without having to buy more hardware or office space. Another feature is cost-effectiveness - you can use as much or as little space as you need. Virtual servers and IaaS give you the opportunity to grow your business on the cloud.

Parallels versus VMware virtual infrastructure
Country or city? Safety or adventure? Chicken or beef? Everyone needs something different. The same goes for IT infrastructure. We can give you the virtual server platform to suit you.
At v6 we provide two infrastructure platforms. Parallels and VMware are based on different virtual technologies. Parallels ‘inherits’ part of the physical operating system from your hardware. It boots up very quickly and takes up very little disk space. VMware vSphere, on the other hand, uses highly flexible hypervisor technology which is entirely virtual. It allows Windows to work alongside Linux and is a very popular tool for business. Both use the latest in blade technology and storage area networks and are equally as effective. They just work differently for different people.
Still none the wiser? Don’t worry, we’ll work out which one is best for your business. Not quite technical enough for you? Compare virtual server specifications in our Parallels versus VMware guide.
